I've had this lamp for over a year now and I just bought a second. I primarily use this as an emergency lamp (power outages, auto issues, etc.) I've also used it for camping, but it's a bit heavy for those who like to travel light. It stows away securely and compactly in the closed position. It can be hung and is stable on its base. The LEDs are white and very bright in high mode. I only use this mode for finding objects or if I intend to venture away from the lantern. Low mode, which I have used more frequently is ideal for reading or general lighting (lasts longer).
The Dynamo works well. A few minutes of cranking is more than enough to get light for quick tasks if the lamp has totally died. I've never fully charged the lamp with the hand crank and don't intend to try.
The siren is activated by a small button on the front of the lantern. It is shrill and can be heard for at least 50 yards. The lantern also comes with a phone charger and several different adapters for different brands and styles of phone. I can't comment on the effectiveness of this feature as I have never used it.
I'll note that the wall charger does not come with the lamp and I had to order one from the eGear site. I didn't subtract a star because it's easy enough to either charge it in the car or crank the dynamo for a few minutes. Just an FYI
Also, I've dropped this lamp three or four times. All the LEDs still burn brightly and all of the moving parts still function well. I don't know how well it would stand up to really rough treatment, but for light to moderate use it holds up well.
