A hassle-free, comfort intensive shelter for two, the Mountain Hardware Meridian 2 Tent is easy to pitch, easy to get in and out of, and so light that it's easy to carry. The one pole design means that the Meridian 2 sets-up in a flash, even in the dark with the wind howling, as reflective markings make it easy to find the designated starting point and guy-out loops. Large vestibule protected doors on either side of the tent provide a place for each occupant to transition from inside the tent to outside, or vice versa, without getting in the way of one another. At just over 4 lbs. it rivals plenty of ultralight designs for dependable weather protection at a surprisingly light weight. Whether the stars are out or the rain is coming down in sheets, the Meridian 2 is a refuge of comfort in wide ranging conditions. Pitch the canopy alone if the bugs come out on a warm, cloudless summer night, or leave the canopy at home and combine the poles, fly sheet, and Meridian 2 Footprint to make an incredibly light, rainproof shelter for ambitious multi-day adventures.

I have always shied away from Mountain Hardwear because all of its products seemed way too expensive, but after extensive research and a huge sale at REI, I caved in and bought this incredible tent.
I was tent shopping because my last tent had a horrendous leaking problem that couldn't be fixed so weight, durabilty and waterproofing were top three on my "must have" list. This tent weighs around 4 pounds packed and with a total coverage rain fly, it practically repels water.
This tent has to be one of the best purchases I have contributed to my backpacking cache. It has upheld everything MH said it would and then some for the past year and counting. It deserves these 5 stars, and getting it for 10% off the sale price because of a tear in the stuff sack was an even bigger bonus.
