Uniquely designed to maximize vestibule space while offering a roomy interior, the Mountain Hardwear Alcove 3 GT is an extremely functional backpacking base camp or family camping tent. The innovative layout of the Alcove 3 GT provides a full-fledged dry entry that puts most vestibules to shame. Clip construction makes it easy to connect the fabric body of the Alcove 3 GT to the lightweight Atlas 7001 aluminum poles. Patented PowerClips are simple to use and increase overall strength by providing more secure connections at those points at which poles intersect. Mountain Hardwear further ensures performance with its Guaranteed Watertight Construction. The fully-taped seams and welded construction of each model of Mountain Hardwear tent are tested in a custom-made "rain room" which subjects the tent to 1200 inches of wind-driven rain over the course of 24 hours. Extremely roomy, the Alcove 3 GT offers nearly 52 sq. feet of usable interior space. The cavernous front vestibule boasts over 23.5 sq. ft. of weatherproof protection and additional sheltered space for storing gear or wet, muddy boots. A rear door increases livability by providing an alternate entry/exit and another 7.5 sq. ft. of vestibule. No-See-Um netting in the walls and ceiling of the Alcove 3 GT combats the build-up of condensation and offers cross-ventilation. In fair weather, the rainfly can be rolled back and lashed in place to increase airflow. Reflective highlights and guy out loops provide visibility for those times when you need to set up after dark. A custom-fit footprint (sold separately) can be used to further protect the floor of the Mountain Hardwear Alcove 3 GT against rocks, exposed roots, mud and ground water.
