this is a miniature 12/24 V simultaneous twist-lock o-ring gasketed sealed plug and jack. What that means to you is you can yank as hard as you want and the plug will not come out of the jack like a normal cig lighter plug would. You get 3 pins that lock when twisted allowing you to carry two voltages, e.g. ground (0) 12 VDC (12) and 24 VDC (24) - this way one outlet can power multiple products at different voltages unlike cig lighter plugs can. finally this is a quality product with a weather tight seal when not in use and when in use compared with the 75 cent cig lighter sockets found in cars today.
I've found that it is about a 15 minute job to replace the existing cig lighter jack with this product and rewire my 12VDC products with these plugs. Finally they stay plugged in all the time no matter how hard I drive. The only disadvantage is that they are not standardized like cig lighter plugs are, but that standard is woefully inadequate due to the numerous problems it has compared to a professional connector like this.
Note also this does not need to be used for 12/24 VDC power but can also be used to make up speaker cable assemblies that will not come unplugged during live performances. It is basically 3 wires that all lock when rotated about 15 degrees clockwise and includes an o-ring seal when plugged in preventing moisture infiltration.
Overall this is a great low voltage high power product with exceptional mechanical reliability. I'd buy it again.
